This is the first story I have read from this author but it will not be the last. The author demonstrates he has the story telling skills to put the reader in the story. Like all good stories, you will love some characters and hate others. Mr. Carl does an excellent job of putting you in the scene. I don't know if he was raised by a rich family or he just did an excellent job researching their life styles. The details of how the rich live will amaze you. He must have been a resident of Houston to be able include such accurate details of the city--well done.The story starts with tragedy and deception. You will find that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Get ready for a story comprised of many stories, twists, and turns. A WARNING -- as the story progresses, IT WILL BECOME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT IT DOWN. This story will suck you into the characters lives whether you like them or dislike them.
Don't be discouraged in the early going when the reader is introduced to seven Baxter family members and two key servants. You will quickly be able to recognize who is who.
Forget about guessing the ending, I promise it will be a shocker!!!
