A girl’s disappearance in a small town leads to a disturbing pattern.

The hunt for a kidnapper reveals a conspiracy unlike anything seen in the small town of Odessa, Texas. Notes left for investigators claim to be from the kidnapper, taunting them along the way and mentioning one former-detective by name, Miriam Sandoval. Miriam is then enlisted to help crack the case, but what she finds results in more troubling questions, including dead suspects who aren’t working alone. Leaks soon compromise the case, and Miriam is left with the difficult decision of holding back or doing things her way. The clock is ticking, and the deadly game of a demented predator has just begun. Can Miriam solve the mystery in time, or will the missing girls’ suffer a tragic fate into the unknown?

It feels like I just read PART of a book. This is bad enough, but it's not ADVERTISED as a cliffhanger! Some readers are not bothered by this; I don't happen to be one of those readers.

Someone is abducting pre-teens in or near Odessa, Texas. That person wanted a quasi-famous detective to come help the police solve his crimes. Seems a little cray-cray to me, but, whatever. So Lieutenant Miriam Sandoval leaves her home and job to go to Texas; she is assigned to the two detectives who are looking for this killer. For no apparent reason she goes off on her own and puts her life at risk and the lives of the missing girls. This, of course, messes everything up and the outcome is not good! Miriam is annoying and her behavior does not seem realistic, which, when all is said and done, is also not entertaining.

I have to say the storyline is complex which is always a plus; only a little predictable, but in general this is a disappointing read. 😟

Still a little baffled as to how Miriam continues to get out on her own and get in the situations that she does but that's what makes a story. Still good reading.
Definitely not a cozy. Hard to put down. Excitement in the every chapter. Great character development. I can't wait for the next book to discover Mariam's course of action for stopping the monster.
This was the first book I have read by this Author and certainly not the last. I am already looking forward to buying more from him. I really loved the quick pace and may twists in the story line
Kept me interested. I knew who the kidnapper was pretty early. But still had to catch him. Good read though.
I really like the story but want each book be complete . Keep the characters but have a new story line. I don't want to have to buy another book to see how the story ends. Thank you. That is why I gave it two stars.l
I totally agree with this review by Susan

Very disappointed with this book.
If the book is going to be a cliffhanger, then it should say so in the review. The book just ended. I'm sick and tired of these writers writing stories like this. If you can't finish the book, then DON"T WRITE IT.
